Sharon Wada, MA
Spiritual Director and Supervisor
Availability: Limited availability on weekdays only.
Training and Experience: I completed my masters degree in Cross Cultural Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary in 1992, with a course work concentration in spiritual formation. My special interests include multi-ethnic issues and leadership development in church and non-profit ministries. In 2009, I completed my training as a spiritual director at the Mercy Center. In 2016 I completed training in the supervision of spiritual directors training through Together in the Mystery, an affiliate of San Francisco Theological Seminary. I feel very blessed to be currently serving as co-director of the non-profit, Sustainable Faith. Sustainable Faith is a network of spiritual directors and pastors working together to foster a culture of healthy spirituality. I also train spiritual directors through Sustainable Faith’s School of Spiritual Direction. Denominational Affiliation: Along with my family of origin, I began my Christian journey within the network of Japanese Evangelical Missionary Society (JEMS) associated churches. I was part of the Palo Alto Vineyard Church, serving on the Vineyard staff leadership team for over a decade. Through Sustainable Faith’s School of Ecclesial Life, I am exploring expressions of Christian community of a smaller scale. Specialties: I primarily offer individual spiritual direction. I am available to accompany people in the Ignatian Exercises. I lead retreats for leadership teams to nurture their personal spiritual development and to foster communal discernment. I enjoy offering supervision for spiritual directors. Style of direction: I desire to help people create space to connect with God in the midst of everyday life and ministry. I aim to foster a process of self-discovery, which helps individuals discern for themselves how God is speaking and leading. I invite people to talk about their life experiences and enter into reflection and prayerful conversations. Personal Information: For 35 years now, God loves and shapes me through my marriage to Jon. We have three beloved adult sons and a daughter in law. We recently entered into the season of grandparenting, which is a gift and a delight. I am drawn to nature, particularly sitting on beaches or strolling through forests. I also like reading, scrapbooking and smooth jazz music. |
