A Sacred Space for The Journey
The Contemplative Center of Silicon Valley is sheltered and supported by Westhope Presbyterian Church. They generously share their space with us including rooms for spiritual direction, a prayer labyrinth, and the sacred spiral. Stepping onto this beautiful and peaceful place, you will know that it is tended by the people of Westhope with love and great care.
Our mission is to be a sacred space where all may find a connection with the Living God. We provide a place that invites people to slow down, find rest for their souls and be renewed for their work in the world. We incarnate this by offering spiritual direction, programs and retreats for the community. Our vision is a thriving, peaceful, spiritual landscape filled with community, connection and renewal for all on the spiritual journey. Our work is grounded in tending to the Holy. We value compassion, deep listening, spiritual companionship, and contemplative and meditative practices.
Our Contemplative Response to Race Privilege
A holistic understanding of the Contemplative life necessitates both introspection and work for justice to make God known in this world. The CCSV stands firmly with our brothers and sisters of color to speak to the deeply ingrained racism in this country. In humility, we ask forgiveness for our complicity through our participation in the systems and structures from which many of us have benefited while others suffer. This is not the way of the Christ. We join with persons of color in working for equality and fullness of their humanity by making an ongoing commitment to examine our organizational beliefs, policies, and practices to uncover traits of race based privilege, and correct them. We strive to continue to learn how to embody Jesus’ prayer, “That humanity may be one, just as You are in me, and I in you, that they may also be in us (John 17)."
