Pronouns: She/Her/Hers Training & Experience: Transformed by my own experience of receiving spiritual direction, I've been studying the art since 2003. I completed my MA in Spiritual Formation & Soul Care from The Institute for Spiritual Formation in 2005 and supervisor training with Together In the Mystery in 2015. Having served in the local church for years, I saw and experienced the deep need for time and safe space to care for the inner life. I am Inner Family Systems informed and use parts language in my practice and enjoy continually learning about the contribution neuroscience offers this work. Affiliation: I'm a bit of a Christian mutt. Picking one denomination doesn't feel right. I was raised Catholic, and Baptist. Survived an almost fatal dose of evangelicalism before finding healing in a small presbyterian church. Church continues to be an unfolding journey for me. I hold deep respect for all faith traditions, and, the Jesus story is what is most familiar to me. I believe how we live our daily life matters and that our smallest contribution within our own circles can change the world. Specialties: Working with people who ask good hard questions about faith, life and themselves. Especially, those who feel stuck or like the spiritual life/church isn't working for them anymore. I enjoy creating physical and spiritual space to help you attend to what is already going on in your own body, and soul. In a profession/ministry where quality of care is unregulated, supervision and development of spiritual directors is an area I’m passionate about. I work with both men and women, pastors and lay people, groups and individuals, but mostly those seeking out the spiritual in their daily life. Style of Direction: My listening style is grounded in an assumption that we live in a benevolent and loving universe. Life is incredibly beautiful and heartbreaking. Frequently, at the same time. I offer my gentle, loving presence and thoughtful questions while attending to the Spirit within both of us. If desired, I suggest possible practices for different seasons of life. If working in person, I encourage my people to use our space at the CCSV (labyrinth, prayer spiral) by coming early and/or staying later to prepare for our time together or continue to process after our session. Personal Information: In my free time you can find me at one of my many favorite places in Santa Cruz. I feel most at home at the beach, or in redwoods. I enjoy travel, hiking, gardening, running, biking, yoga, a good romcom, research psychology podcasts and, warm Hawaiian ocean water. I'm married to an incredible first generation Chinese man, and we have two bi-racial daughters who are a year and a half apart. They frequently serve as my daily training in how to listen, love and live fully. |
