Training & Experience: Forever changed by my personal experience of receiving spiritual direction, I've been training and studying the art of it ever since. Receiving my MA in Spiritual Formation & Soul Care, as well as, training in spiritual direction in 2005 from The Institute for Spiritual Formation. In 2015, I was officially trained by Together In the Mystery and begun offering supervision of spiritual directors. Working in the local church for years, I saw, and personally experienced, the deep need for time and a place to care for my own soul. So, now I offer mini Soul Care Retreats a couple times a year to hold this space for others.
Denominational Affiliation: I'm a bit of a Christian mutt. Picking one denomination doesn't quite feel right. I was raised Catholic and Baptist. (Yes, it's possible!) Survived an almost fatal dose of evangelicalism before finding healing in a small presbyterian church. Church continues to be an unfolding journey for me. I hold deep respect for all faith traditions and I practice within the Christian faith. I believe how we live our daily life matters and that our smallest contribution within our own circles can change the world.
Specialties: Working with people who ask good hard questions about faith, life and themselves. Especially, those who feel stuck or like the spiritual life/church isn't working for them anymore. I enjoy creating physical and spiritual space to help you attend to what is already going on in your own body and soul. Supervision and professional growth of spiritual directors is an area I’m passionate about. I work with both men and women, pastors, groups and individuals.
Style of Direction: My style is grounded in trust that God is in all things. Life is incredibly beautiful. And, heartbreaking. Frequently, at the same time. I offer my gentle, loving presence and thoughtful questions while attending to the Spirit within both of us. If desired, I suggest possible prayer practices for different seasons of life. I encourage my directees to use our space at the CCSV (labyrinth, prayer spiral) by coming early and/or staying later to prepare for our time together or continue to process after our session.
Personal Information: On my days off you can find me at one of my many favorite places in Santa Cruz. Growing up in Scotts Valley, I feel most at home at the beaches or in redwood forests of NorCal. I enjoy travel, hiking, riding bikes, yoga, and, before my littles were born, surfing and reading. I'm married with two incredible daughters who are a year and a half apart. They frequently serve as my daily training in how to listen, love and live fully.
