Training & Experience: I received my MA in Spiritual Formation & Soul Care, as well as, training in spiritual direction in 2005 from The Institute for Spiritual Formation at Talbot. Falling in love with the art and gift of spiritual direction and retreats, I’ve been studying, receiving and offering both ever since. In 2015 I trained in supervision of spiritual directors by Together In the Mystery. Working in the local church for years, I saw, and personally experienced, the deep need for time and a place to care for my own soul. So, now I offer mini Soul Care Retreats a couple times a year to hold this space for others. I am on the ELT of the CCSV, an ordained Presbyterian Elder, wife, and being drastically transformed in the school of motherhood.
Denominational Affiliation: I'm a bit of a Christian mutt. Church has always been part of my life, but having to pick one denomination doesn't quite feel right. I was raised Catholic. Attended a Baptist church until college. Went to a non-denominational college and seminary. Worked in a mega-church, as well as, a small Presbyterian church. I hold much respect for all faith traditions.
Specialties: I specialize in spiritual retreats that help other attend to what is going on in their own body and soul. Supervision and professional growth of spiritual directors is an area I’m passionate about. I tend to attract those in various life stages who are asking questions about their own faith journey or who have been disillusioned or felt missed by church. I work with both men and women, pastors, groups and individuals.
Style of Direction: My style is rooted in the trust that God is in all things. Life is incredibly beautiful. And, heartbreaking. Frequently, at the same time. I offer my gentle, loving presence and thoughtful questions while attending to the Spirit within both of us. If desired, I am able to suggest possible prayer practices for different seasons of life. I encourage my directees to use our space at the CCSV (labyrinth, prayer spiral) by coming early and/or staying later to prepare for our time together or continue to process after our session.
Personal Information: One of my favorite places to run is West Cliff drive in Santa Cruz. Growing up in Scotts Valley, I feel most at home at the beaches or in redwood forests of NorCal. I enjoy travel, hiking, riding bikes, yoga, and, before my littles were born, surfing and reading. I'm Italian-German heritage married to a first generation Chinese American. Our incredible and beautiful daughters are only a year and a half apart and frequently serve as my daily training in how to listen, love and live better.
